As Iowa's first certified LGBT Business Enterprise and Diverse Supplier through the National LGBTQ+ & Allied Chamber of Commerce, it was an honor for Measure, Inc. to partner with the Iowa LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce to create a bold and versatile brand identity that elevates the Chamber’s presence across Iowa. The work included the design of a new logo, brand identity system, website, stationery, campaign collateral, and a social media styling guide to unify communications for programming, webinars, blogs, partner programs, and business mixers. At the heart of the project was a strategy to broaden the Chamber’s appeal, positioning it not only as a vital resource for the Chamber's members but also as a trusted platform for the wider community. Built with accessibility and flexibility in mind, the system works seamlessly across digital and print applications while proudly reflecting both the diversity of the Chamber’s membership and pride in Iowa.
The logo for the Iowa LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce reimagines the Pride flag within the contour of Iowa, with colors that reflect the state’s wide horizons — where sky meets land, sunrises meet crops, and blue skies meet powerful rivers. Its horizon line expands from left to right, creating a sense of forward motion that speaks to progress for people, businesses, and Iowa itself. The broader identity builds on this idea with a grid of abstract shapes and colors that can be combined to evoke economics, growth, environment, learning, and partnership. Bold geometric graphics and bold typography are balanced with a softened pastel rainbow element and white space, creating a system that is both powerful and inviting, a true reflection of the Chamber’s mission to grow visibility and opportunity.
The Iowa LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce website was designed with usability and accessibility at its core, ensuring visitors can easily navigate resources, events, and the business directory. Clear structure, intuitive navigation, and accessible typography create an inclusive experience that reflects best practices and supports users of all abilities.
Visually, the design aligns seamlessly with the Chamber’s bold brand identity system. The site’s layout and styling convey a polished, elevated aesthetic intended to communicate professionalism and gravitas. This sends a clear message: the Chamber "means business" and is a serious, growth-oriented organization. The Chamber’s brand identity was extended into a flexible social media system that organizes content by category—such as webinars, events, mixers, blogs, and partner promotions—while maintaining a cohesive design language. By using consistent typography, color treatments, and graphic elements, each post type is easily distinguishable yet unmistakably part of the Chamber’s visual identity. This balance of clarity and consistency strengthens brand recognition across platforms, ensuring that every piece of content contributes to a unified and professional presence.
The Chamber’s brand identity was designed to flex for a wide range of programming campaigns, from Pitch with Pride to the NGLCC & GrubHub Community Impact Grants. Each campaign requires a unique identity to highlight its specific goals and audiences, yet must remain rooted in the Chamber’s overarching visual system. The brand developed by Measure makes this possible—providing a versatile toolkit of colors, typography, and graphic elements that allow new initiatives and partner collaborations to stand out while still feeling unmistakably part of the Chamber. This balance of individuality and consistency ensures that every campaign reinforces the Chamber’s credibility, visibility, and impact.
